Customs Control

Dear passengers, this information may become useful for you to freely pass the customs check.  

The “Green” Corridor is a specifically designated place in places of arrival and departure designed for physical persons to carry personal use items not subject to the customs clearance in accompanied baggage across the customs border.

The “Red” Corridor is a specifically designated place in places of arrival and departure designed for physical persons to carry personal use items subject to the customs clearance as well as the goods, which the physical person wishes to declare, in accompanied baggage across the customs border.

When exiting the Russian Federation:

Without declaring, it is allowed to export currency in the amount not exceeding 10,000 USD (a total sum of cash and traveler's cheques). Cash instruments (bills of exchange, bank cheques, bearer securities) are subject to mandatory declaring regardless of their amount. Exporting of cash and traveler’s cheques in the amount exceeding an equivalent of 10,000 USD is subject to mandatory declaring. Money on a bank card do not need to be declared, their amount is not limited.

Items for personal use are allowed to be transported without declaring and payment of customs duties.

It is allowed to export from Russia under 5 kg of fish and seafood as well as under 250 g of osetra caviar in original packaging and on the condition of having till slips issued by the shop.

Export above the said allowances is strictly prohibited.

It is allowed to import diamonds valued under 75 000 USD.

When entering the Russian Federation:

The imported goods shall be for personal, family and household needs not related to entrepreneurship activities. The customs officers shall determine the intended purpose of the goods, judging from their quantity and characteristics as well as based on how frequent the physical person crossed the border.

Without declaring, it is allowed to import currency in the amount not exceeding 10,000 USD (a total sum of cash and traveler's cheques). Importing of cash and traveler’s cheques in the amount exceeding an equivalent of 10,000 USD is subject to mandatory declaring. Money on a bank card do not need to be declared.

It is allowed to import the goods by road and sea transport without payment of the customs duties if the value of the goods does not exceed 1,500 EUR and their total weight is not more than 50 kg. When entering by sea transport – not more than 10,000 EUR in value and not exceeding 50 kg in total weight. If the said allowances are exceeded, the customs duties and taxes are charged in the amount of 30% from cost but not more than 4 EUR per 1 kg of weight in excess of such allowance.

WARNING! If indivisible goods of over 35 kg are imported, the customs duties and taxes shall be charged based on the total cost and the total weight of the goods.

It is prohibited to import more than 5 liters of alcohol products and beer from abroad. Note however that alcohol of over 3 liters needs to be included in the declaration and the customs duties and taxes need to be paid in the amount of 10 EUR per 1 liter for each liter above the allowance.

It is prohibited to import tobacco products without payment of customs duties: - 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars, or 250 grams of tobacco, or the said assorted goods at the total weight of not more than 250 grams.

IMPORTANT! Alcohol and tobacco products may only be imported by citizens aged 18 years and older.

 

 

One physical person is allowed to import under 5 kg of plant products (except seeds, seed grains, planting material, potatoes) and under 5 kg of products of animal origin.

IMPORTANT! It is allowed to import only finished products of animal origin in original packaging. IMPORTANT! Rosselkhoznadzor may introduce prohibitions and restrictions related to import of plant products and products of animal origin from certain countries!
